ICONS OF OUR HISTORY

A collection of historical and scientific character illustrations created in a refined 2D vector style. Each portrait combines clean graphic shapes, bold silhouettes, and carefully controlled color palettes with subtle grain and noise-brush textures, giving the artwork a handcrafted and editorial feel. The project aims to represent iconic figures from history, science, culture, and discovery in a visually striking yet accessible way, balancing historical identity with modern illustration design.

Through simplified forms, expressive poses, and textured light and shadow, each character becomes more than a portrait: a symbolic visual piece designed for educational, editorial, and cultural storytelling.

More illustrations will be coming soon, expanding this visual journey through history, science, discovery, and the remarkable people who helped shape the world. Each new piece will continue exploring the past through a modern 2D vector style, bringing new stories, ideas, and characters to life.

History and illustration together make the past easier to understand, feel, and remember. Through visual storytelling, historical and scientific figures become more than names or dates: they become characters with presence, identity, and legacy.

By combining research, 2D vector design, and subtle noise-brush texture, these illustrations bring history closer to a modern audience, turning knowledge into powerful and memorable visual pieces.

Projects

Historical illustrations that represent, not only the character itself, but also the values, ideas and legacy that the world got as heritage.

In this example, I needed to do Mariana Pineda, an important figure in the history of my city, for a project where other illustrators did their own infographies about other important characters of my city. It was a very refreshing way of representing these important people in a more visual and symbolic way.

This project was part of a multiple ilustration colaboration of artists from Granada, Spain. Each of us needed to ilustrate one important figure in the history of the city, in my case Mariana Pineda, and explain about her life, her legacy and her path to become part of history itself.
